SEO Rankings & Results

A first-page position is only worth something if it brings in customers. Here is how we track SEO rankings and connect them to real inquiries, plus a realistic look at how quickly they tend to move.

How we measure

Why We Report Positions and Business Outcomes

A ranking that does not produce inquiries is a trophy, not a result. That is why we report rankings alongside the traffic they earn and the leads that traffic converts.

  • Daily rank tracking across desktop and mobile, segmented by location where it matters.
  • Grid-based local tracking in local SEO audits and on multi-location plans, checking your map position from points spread across the service area rather than giving a single average for the whole city.
  • Search Console integration for verified impression, click and position data straight from Google.
  • Conversion attribution connecting each landing page to the leads it produced and, where your analytics or CRM allows it, the revenue.
  • Competitor benchmarking, so you know whether a drop is you slipping or the whole market moving.

Rank tracking and reporting are included in all of our SEO packages.

Rankings fluctuate daily and depend on location and device. Each position was checked for the location and period shown.

How Each Example Is Recorded

Every published example is recorded the same way, so you can check it instead of taking our word for it.

Keyword and location

The exact search term and the city or area it was checked from, because positions change from place to place.

Before and after

The position when our work began, the latest checked position and the period between the two.

Date and evidence

When the position was captured and, where available, a screenshot from the rank tracker.

Client approval

Nothing appears here until the client concerned has approved publication in writing.

Typical trajectory

What Ranking Progress Actually Looks Like

An honest month-by-month view of a competitive campaign, including the flat stretch in the middle that rarely makes it into a sales pitch.

  1. Months 1–2

Technical fixes land. Crawl efficiency and indexation improve. Expect movement in long-tail positions and very little in head terms. This is foundation work.

  2. Months 3–4

On-page optimization and the first content wave take effect. Page-two keywords often start crossing to page one, and impressions climb noticeably.

  3. Months 5–8

Authority building compounds, though head terms can sit in place for weeks before they move. Once they do, some start reaching the top ten, and the growth shows up in analytics as well as in the rank tracker.

  4. Months 9–12

A mature campaign competes for top positions on primary commercial terms and for featured snippets and AI citations. The focus shifts to holding ground and widening coverage.

This is a typical pattern for a competitive campaign, not a timetable. Competition, your site’s history and the scope of work each month all change the pace, and less contested terms can move sooner.

FAQ

Ranking Questions, Answered

How we track rankings, and what to expect from them.

Why might my own search show a different position?

Google personalizes and localizes results, so what you see can differ from what a customer in your target market sees. Your location, device and search history all play a part. That is exactly why we track positions from specific locations with a rank tracker rather than relying on a quick browser check.

Why do rankings fluctuate day to day?

Google updates its index continuously and is always testing changes to its results, so small daily movement is normal and not a cause for concern. We report on trends over weeks, not on any single day’s snapshot. What we do watch closely is a sustained drop across a cluster of related terms, which usually signals something real and gets investigated promptly.

Do you track mobile and desktop separately?

Yes, because the two often differ, and for many businesses most searches now happen on phones. Local SEO campaigns get an extra layer: a grid scan that checks where you appear from different points across a city. Every local audit includes one, and multi-location plans keep tracking that way, which exposes the neighborhoods where a business is effectively invisible.

What is an AI Overview citation, and does it matter?

It is when Google’s AI-generated answer, shown above the regular results, cites your site as a source. It matters more and more, because these answers can take attention that would previously have gone to the top organic result. We work toward citations through entity consolidation, structured data and content that answers questions directly and clearly. No one can guarantee that Google will cite a particular page, so we report citations as they appear rather than promising them.

Can you guarantee a specific ranking position?

No, and no honest agency will. Nobody controls Google’s algorithm, and a guaranteed first position usually means one of two things: the promise is misleading, or the keyword is one that nobody actually searches. What you can hold us to is the work itself: the plan we agree at the start, reporting of the kind described on this page, and a straight answer when a tactic is not paying off.

Where Do You Rank Right Now?

Send us five keywords you want to own. We will run a free position check against your top competitors and tell you what reaching page one would actually take.
